You do realise writing original code for the PS3 is like beating your head against a wall with a nail sticking out of it whilst simultaneously trying to juggle 8 petroleum soaked flaming yoga balls. Actually, it's not that bad, but it's very hard.
God knows how bad it is to port cross platform code. We've seen it with Bethesda and it's bugs and with Far Cry 3 and its loading screens and so many other examples because your code MUST be 8 core multithreaded and have half the GPU stuff offloaded to the CPU to get anything near decent results. Complaining about the graphics resolution of a free game whilst it's still in beta is stupid. Graphics are the last thing I care about atm, not to mention that is likely the fault of hardware in this case (PS3 GPU sucks, and CPU has to do graphics stuff a lot of the time)
And yes, the Yoga balls are the SPEs.
Quote:What is the hardcore fps player?
Sorry, if you are referring to multilayer FPS games on consoles having hardcore players, that's an oxymoron. Consoles are built to be played by non-gamers that don't play anything but a select set of high sales games that their friends do. It's a form of advanced social networking with built in entertainment for most of it's audience. One of the important things about 'hardcore' is it's a moving average. It's the players that put gaming before a lot of other things, like the amount of friends that also own the same game as them. That's why the age old type cast is that guy that sits in the dark with no friends and no life playing computer games. It's because most 'Hardcore' gamers would buy and play an awesome game that his friends dislike instead of playing a crap one with all his mates. The proliferation of the XBL generation is one of the main reasons I think great games are getting shorter, fewer and far between and CoD clone multi-players are popping up everywhere, complete with stupid flaws (springint dives, grenades + killzones etc) so Console gamers know how to play them 'well'
Thar Saal wrote: Simply laughable. btw if you wish to learn the truth behind meaningfully actions made by player decisions in games, go read a few snippets from game developers. Arguing that Dust514 has meaningful actions beyond the k/d of a match is a fool's task. And know, if you wish to argue with me based on that task, I will inquire for lasting changes to core gameplay based on those meaning actions within Dust514. If you find yourself not able to discribe them, don't bother trying to make an ass of yourself.
Could the same not be argued of EvE in general? |
